Thank you for checking out my blog. I mostly write about my interests: Japan and the Japanese language, programming, technology and music. I also have a collection of Japanese grammatical expressions and a personal list of confusing synonyms that I regularly sometimes update. They might be of use to someone else too.

Short announcements
2023. December 18: I've removed the IRC page since I no longer care about deploying my own server. Its content was written in 2018 and as of late it would make me look like a hypocrite, because I've been using a burner faceberg account to chat with girls for a little more than a year. To add, I've also changed the default theme to winter for this season.

2023. October 3: Internet connectivity issues are now over. The contract with my previous ISP has expired and I've moved to a different one. The new ISP blessed me with a blazing fast FTTH connection: my download and upload speeds now consistently exceed 600 Mbps, sometimes reaching over 900 Mbps! My dreams of building a datacentre in my living room are slowly becoming a reality.

2022. February 6: One of the hosts crashed and got stuck in a bootloop after a reboot, so I took it out for a reinstall. For the better part of this week I've been migrating containers, that's why I needed to shut down the entire cluster. I didn't go smoothly, but I ended up doing more work than I planned, so it was worth it.

2021. June 18: The HDD mentioned in the previous announcement repeatedly shat itself so it had to be replaced with an SSD. But during the reinstall I fucked something up with the database replication so badly that the site was taken offline for another five days. Now everything is working again.

2021. May 26: One of the cluster member's HDD got mounted as read-only because of a CRC error, as a result the site was unavailable. But the way I found out this issue was that I couldn't get my phone to connect to Wifi due to some DHCP errors. I don't understand this either.

2020. September 18: After a HW fault the site is once again fully functional, no more planned downtime unless I am deploying new code.
