Eterna Musik (えてるなむじーく) is a comparatively old doujin circle led by Kotono. The circle formed in 2000, but some of their songs were written in late 90's. This was in an age where doujin music wasn't that widespread: the new Touhou series and Vocaloid, two franchises that did some heavy boost to the doujin music scene, were still years away. I'm not particularly well-knowledged about that era, but based on what I've read I think Key arranges and other moe songs were popular those days: Kanon and Air were released in 1999 and 2000, respectively. These two games must have been very influential at that time.

Other circles similar to Eterna Music were Apple Project, DeviceHigh and the emerging IOSYS, to name a few.

About this album

I received this album with five others in a package from Japan; i hunted every single of them from Suruga-ya. What makes Water Hazard special (at least for me) is that it can't be found on the internet. It was released during C62 with its original title being "うぉ〜た〜はざ〜ど" - I admit I had no idea what was the meaning of that until I read the booklet that had Water Hazard printed on it. An interesting thing I discovered that the CD contains a data track as well, even though it wasn't mentioned on the booklet. Among the data there is a HTML page showing the album's website as it used to be shown on www.eternamusik.com[1]. There is also an omake directory containing detailed comments from authors about each song, and some promo material for related works. Unfortunately, but somehow unsurprisingly the whole data section is a SHIFT-JIS mess; to make the files legible I need to convert them one by one.

The coolest feature of this disc is undoubtably this lovely audio player script that shows when you click the autorun.exe on your Migrosert© Wendys® machine.

The album has total 18 original compositions mostly with female vocals. The musical style is closer to jpop/ballad, with an overwhelming amount of moeness and innocence. Some people claim this kind of musical style is denpa - even if it is some kind of denpa it's lightyears away from what we consider as denpa today (ななひら and the likes). I'd also argue about the definition of moe sound - I consider a song moe if it is fast-paced and has cheerful, energetic yet out of tune awful vocals. Eterna Music songs have none of these, they're usually slow and more emotional. Yes, the singing is often bad, but nevertheless I love how much effort the creators put into their songs.

I'll eventually upload my whole rip and translate some author comments. I also did some shitty scans, I'll include those too. Until then, here's the song list as it's shown on the attached HTML page - I'll probably translate these too.

Edit: I couldn't attach my rip because a bug prevented me from editing posts. This has been fixed, you can find the album here. The scans, data files and their translations are still missing because I'm a lazy fuck, I'll eventually update my upload to contain those too.
